Compact CNC milling machines - high speed machining and series production
FANUC ROBODRILL machining centers combine milling, drilling and tapping within a compact footprint. These BT30-class machines pair fast axis movements with short tool-change times, particularly useful for parts with numerous holes, threads and frequent tool changes.
We look beyond cutting time: setup, part loading and tooling requirements also determine which ROBODRILL makes economic sense for your production.
The α-DiB Plus range at a glance
S, M and L machine sizes
- S models – 300 mm X-axis travel for smaller workpieces and compact fixtures
- M models – 500 mm X-axis travel for a wider range of parts
- L models – 700 mm X-axis travel for larger parts or multiple fixtures
The D28LiB5 ADV Plus Y500 extends Y-axis travel to 500 mm. Selection also considers workholding, workpiece weight, tool length and access to machining features.
Standard and Advanced
Standard models provide 330 mm Z-axis travel; Advanced models provide 400 mm. D21 models have 21 tool stations; M and L Advanced D28 versions have 28. Advanced machines offer tool-to-tool changes from 0.7 seconds and tools weighing up to 4 kg. Actual cut-to-cut times are longer and model-dependent.
3-, 4- or 5-axis machining to suit the workpiece
ROBODRILL can be configured for 3-axis machining or with additional rotary and tilting axes. Multi-sided and simultaneous 5-axis machining require compatible tables, fixtures and control functions. A 5-axis configuration is not automatically included with every machine.
ROBODRILL with manual loading or automation
We offer machines with manual loading or an application-specific automation system. This choice is independent of axis count: a 3-axis machine can also be automated.
The optional ROBODRILL Robot Package simplifies robot-loading integration. Automatic doors and Robot Interface 2 support coordination between machine and robot. Grippers, parts storage, workholding and safeguarding are configured for the application.
We assess automation against batch sizes, part changes, loading times and required unattended runtime. Standard models can also be automated; an Advanced model is not a prerequisite.
FANUC CNC and iHMI for programming and operation
The current α-DiB Plus range uses the FANUC 31i-B5 Plus CNC. Its graphical iHMI interface supports programming and simulation. Functions for complex contours, thermal compensation or process monitoring are selected according to the available options.
FANUC ROBODRILL at the CNC Outlet Center
FANUC occasionally exhibits ROBODRILL machines at the CNC Outlet Center. Before arranging a visit, we confirm the model and specification currently on site. Displayed machines can be viewed under power; cutting demonstrations are agreed separately.
Agree on machine selection, scope of supply and service
Please provide a part drawing, material, quantity, machining requirements and target production start. Together with FANUC, we clarify machine size, spindle, tool capacity, metrology and delivery. Automation projects involve the relevant integrator. Commissioning, training and support are agreed for each project; FANUC provides technical service and spare parts.
Include peripherals and financing
Workholding, tooling and metrology can be included from the outset. We can also help with financing and the valuation or sale of an existing machine.
