The powerful 14,000 rpm motor spindle, compact rotary-tilting table and carefully selected equipment package make this new machine particularly attractive for tool and mold making, precision machining, one-off parts and small-batch production.

Five Axes for Complex Workpieces

The integrated rotary-tilting table allows multiple sides of a workpiece to be machined without the need for repeated setups. The C-axis provides 360° rotation, while the B-axis offers a swiveling range from −5° to +110°. This reduces setup times and improves positional accuracy between machining operations.

The FMU 500-H is available with the HEIDENHAIN TNC7 basic for 4+1-axis machining. For demanding freeform surfaces and simultaneous 5-axis machining, the TNC7 is available with the appropriate software option.

HEIDENHAIN TNC7 or TNC7 basic – The Right Control for Your Production

Both controls feature proven HEIDENHAIN conversational programming, a modern multi-touch interface and the ability to program contours graphically directly on the screen. Machining programs can be created, simulated and modified conveniently at the control.

The TNC7 basic is designed for conventional milling operations and multi-sided machining using a tilted working plane. The TNC7 offers an extended range of functions for demanding 5-axis applications. The available machining, probing and control functions depend on the activated software options.

Powerful Motor Spindle and Short Non-Cutting Times

With 21 kW of power and 112 Nm of torque at speeds of up to 14,000 rpm, the motor spindle provides ample performance reserves for machining steel, cast iron and aluminum. Rapid traverse rates of 30 m/min in the linear axes ensure fast positioning movements. The 40-station tool changer provides sufficient capacity for extensive machining sequences.

The 20-bar through-spindle coolant system and standard chip conveyor support reliable machining, even during extended operating periods. Optional measuring and calibration systems are available for applications requiring additional process reliability.
