The C670 CNC Outlet Edition is a powerful CNC cycle-controlled lathe designed for large turned components, long shafts and demanding machining applications. With a distance between centers of 2,000 mm, a swing over bed of 670 mm and a spindle bore of 104 mm, this new machine offers generous machining capacity. The 18.2 kW main spindle drive and heavy-duty machine construction make it an attractive solution for mechanical and plant engineering, maintenance, one-off production and small-batch manufacturing.
Generous Working Area for Demanding Turning Applications
With a distance between centers of 2,000 mm, the C670 is designed for machining longer shafts, axles, spindles and other rotationally symmetrical components. The 670 mm swing over bed and center height of 340 mm also allow larger-diameter workpieces to be accommodated.
The Z-axis travel is 2,025 mm, while the X-axis provides 360 mm of travel. This gives the machine a generous working area for different workpiece sizes and demanding machining sequences.
For machining long workpieces, the C670 features a tailstock with a carriage-driven system. The quill, with a diameter of 100 mm, a travel of 180 mm and an MT5 taper, provides stable workpiece support. Additional steady rests and suitable workholding equipment can be included depending on the application.
18.2 kW Main Spindle Drive for Powerful Cutting Performance
The C670 main spindle is designed for high cutting forces and the machining of larger workpieces. The main spindle drive delivers 18.2 kW (S6 – 40%) at a maximum spindle speed of 1,800 rpm. This makes the machine particularly suitable for turning operations where high torque is more important than extremely high spindle speeds.
The 104 mm spindle bore and ASA A2-8 spindle nose accommodate appropriately sized workholding equipment and larger bar diameters. Whether machining chuck-mounted components or longer shafts, the workholding arrangement can be adapted to the application.
Heavy-Duty Construction for High Stability and Precision
The heavily ribbed cast-iron machine bed provides the rigid foundation of the C670. The hardened and ground flat and prismatic guideways are designed to withstand high loads while providing effective vibration damping. The TURCITE-coated cross slide supports precise and consistent tool guidance.
With a machine weight of approximately 4,300 kg, the C670 offers a solid mechanical foundation. Particularly when machining long workpieces and demanding materials, its rigid construction contributes to stable cutting conditions and consistent surface finishes.
Siemens Sinumerik 828D for One-Off Parts and Recurring Production
The Siemens Sinumerik 828D enables convenient programming of complex turning contours and recurring machining operations. Graphically supported turning and drilling cycles simplify program creation directly at the machine. Threading, grooving and different turning contours can also be combined within CNC programs.
With the RMMP manual machine package, the C670 can additionally be operated using electronic handwheels and a joystick. This is particularly advantageous for one-off parts, repair work and frequently changing workpieces. Programs created for recurring jobs can be stored and reused.
Flexible Tooling Options for Different Machining Operations
The C670 is available with various toolholding systems and turret configurations. In addition to quick-change toolholders, electrically operated 4- or 8-station tool turrets are available. An 8-station turret with driven tools can also be fitted as an option.
This allows the machine to be configured for conventional turning as well as more demanding machining sequences. The appropriate tooling configuration depends on the number of tools required and the planned machining operations.
