Axon: Owner-Managed Machine Tool Provider with In-House Service
Based in Schorndorf near Stuttgart, Axon has been an owner-managed machine tool supplier on the market since 2003. More than 2,000 customers are supported by an in-house, nationwide service network with dedicated contact persons.
When designing machines, the focus is not on maximum equipment, but on the technology actually required for the workpiece, material, and machining task.
The Axon Milling Range at a Glance
5-Axis Machining Centers
- LU Series – from the compact LU 400 to the gantry models LU 800 and LU 1200 for larger and heavier workpieces
- FMU Series – FMU 500 Basic for 5-side machining and FMU 500 Basic Plus for 5-axis simultaneous machining
3-Axis Machining Centers
- VMC Linear Guideway – various sizes for dynamic machining tasks and fast travel movements
- VMC Box Guideway – high damping and stability for heavy roughing, larger tools, and demanding materials
Portal Milling Machines
- DM Series – for large and heavy workpieces with X-axis travels from 2,200 to 4,200 mm
Linear or Box Guideway: The Selection Question for the VMC
Axon linear-guided VMC machining centers offer advantages in dynamics and fast travel movements. Box-way machines score points with high damping and are particularly suitable for heavy roughing, larger tools, and demanding materials.
Axon at the CNC Outlet Center: The CNC Outlet Edition
For selected Axon models, the CNC Outlet Center offers a pre-configured special series – the CNC Outlet Edition. It combines a firmly defined, practice-oriented specification with an attractive entry-level price.
Why a Pre-Configured CNC Outlet Edition is More Cost-Effective
The CNC Outlet Edition is a cross-manufacturer product line of high-quality machines in a sensibly pre-configured standard version. Because this proven configuration is ordered multiple times, a genuine volume advantage is created, which is passed on directly. The result is a fully equipped 5-axis machining center at a price otherwise only achieved with stripped-down basic machines.
The decisive factor is what is included in the standard equipment that would otherwise be listed as a surcharge option. For the AXON FMU 500, this includes:
- Motor spindle with 14,000 rpm, 21 kW and 112 Nm, SK 40 tool taper
- Travels 500 / 430 / 450 mm, rotary-swiveling table 630 × 500 mm with 250 kg table load
- C-axis 360°, B-axis −5° to +110° for machining in a single setup
- Rapid traverses 30 m/min in X/Y/Z and 20 m/min in the rotary axes
- Tool changer with 40 stations
- Internal coolant supply (ICS) 20 bar and chip conveyor
An accuracy and measuring package is available as an option.
The edition is available in two control variants: the FMU 500-H with Heidenhain TNC7 Basic and the FMU 500-S with Siemens 828D. Optionally, a service package complements transport, commissioning with basic instruction, and one day of training at the customer's site. Current prices can be found on the machine pages.
Inspect Machines and Control Concepts Before Deciding
Available Axon machines can be inspected at the CNC Outlet Center and tested under power. With the FMU 500, Heidenhain TNC7 Basic and Siemens 828D can be compared on the same machine platform.
Check Alternatives Within the Same Investment Framework
Sizes, guideway concepts, and equipment can be compared within the Axon range. Depending on the milling task, another VMC model, a 3-axis or 5-axis concept, or a more extensive configuration may be useful.
Peripherals and Accessories as a Combination Offer
Clamping devices, tool equipment, measuring technology, and other peripherals can be considered together with the machine and technically coordinated.
Initial Orientation Here, Project Planning and Service by Axon
The CNC Outlet Center takes into account part mix, capacity, and the economic framework. Project planning, installation, instruction, training, warranty services, repairs, and spare parts supply are handled by Axon with its own nationwide service.
Additionally, the CNC Outlet Center supports financing as well as the valuation or recycling of existing machines.
